Bishopstrow House is a late Georgian country house, now run as a hotel on Boreham Road (B3414 road) in Bishopstrow, 1.5 miles east of Warminster, Wiltshire, England.

History

The original manor of Bishopstrow was originally built in the late 18th century and stood between the Salisbury Road and the River Wylye, but a fire in 1817 saw it rebuilt on the northern side of the road.[1] The current house was completed by John Pinch the elder[2] in 1821. In 1950 it was bought by Keith Neal, a firearms collector and in 1976 the house was purchased by Kurt Schiller who turned it into a 10 room hotel in 1977, but was later enlargened to include more rooms.[1] In 1988 the hotel was purchased by the Blandy Family, owners of the five star Reid's Hotel and winery of Madeira.[1] In 1995 they were forced to sell and it became part of the Von Essen hotels in 2001.[1] It is set in 27 or 28 acres and as of 2001 had 2 family rooms, 6 suites and 24 double rooms.[3] The River Wylye passes through the garden and there is a summer house and boat house aside it. There are also two historical burial moulds dating back to the 1800s within the hotel grounds.
